Ras Karbi was born on the Island of Jamaica. After graduating the Jamaica School of Art, he was awarded scholarships by The Brooklyn Museum Art School in New York, and later by the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. Here he studied sculpture and acting, while pursuing a degree in music at Brown University. His deep love for music and art brings us to his new release ‘Discrimination’. In this single, Ras Karbi illustrates the inequality that Rastafari have to endure. His upbringing inspired him to have ambition and lead a righteous life, but he quickly learned that discrimination against Rastafari is holding them back. ‘Discrimination’ stands for equality and justice for all. The single was produced in 1983 by various famous Jamaican artists, such as Sly and Robbie, Robbie Lyn and Dean Frazer and has been worked on from the Tuff Gong Studio. The single includes 3 versions of the song: ‘Discrimination’, ‘Discrimination – Original 1976 Version’ and ‘Discrimination Dub’. Enjoy!
