Interview with Consumer Junk

We recently caught up with Consumer Junk to celebrate the release of their third studio album 'The Gift Of Aggression'. Their first release since the album 'Pusher' came out in 2015.

How long have you guys been together for and how did you come up with your name?

I think it is probably because I was irritated. I more or less thought that we are all consumers and junkies because of our need to consume so we coined the phrase Consumer Junk. We have been together in this new lineup for a few months but we first started the project 5 to 6 years ago.

How would you describe your sound to anyone that hasn't heard of you before?

That is a tough question. We refer to it as distorted disco. We get quoted techno, but that doesn't seem like the right fit, we make songs with lyrics that is why we feel it is different.

You recently released 'The Gift Of Aggression' your third studio album. How did you come up with it and what was the reason behind it?

The album was ready almost a year before the release date. It took around a year to write and to produce the tracks. The songs focus on the theme of war and politics. The album encapsulates what is going on with Donald Trump and in Syria.

Why did you choose Decay and Needs as the lead singles of the album?

'Decay' is just a good poppy track. We all felt that it was a good for a big audience. 'Needs' on the other hand is a song we believe can really stick in your brain after a few listens. Also it is a song that are fans requested. So we had no choice but to put it on the album and have it as a single.

Any plans for the rest of 2019?

Well hopefully some more live shows. There will of course be more music on the way, nothing we can say yet. Keep your eye on all of our socials to see when this drops.
