Günther Brück releases ‘Pajarito Negro’

Updated: Jan 15, 2020

Günther Brück is an exceptional composer and bandleader and his music busts with energy and poetry, employing a surprisingly strong yet fresh musical approach that combines different idioms and traditions. The Joropo is a traditional music and dance style that is part of Venezuelan folklore and is performed with cuatro, maracas and harp. In ‘Pajarito Negro’ the instrumentation changes to maracas and drums combined with bass, meanwhile the piano and sax serve as a melodic instrument. In his splendid bass solo, Roberto Koch uses several melodic phrases that recall the rhythm usually played by the harp, while Roberto Quintero who is a virtuoso of percussion, shows his skill with maracas in an extremely fast tempo.
